S21 E5 (14 Oct 06) : Sons and Lovers by Matthew Evans
Episode Summary
Sean Maddox has returned to Holby from Australia after a six year absence. He is on his way to the ED department, as a stint as Locum, when he comes across a distraught single mother, Sally, whose baby has stopped breathing. Paramedics race to the scene shortly after his arrival, and Comfort is put out by his intervention. The baby dies in hospital. Later Comfort is upset when Sean raises the subject of child abuse, however Charlie learns a tragic revelation after talking with Sally’s eldest child Jack, who accidentally smothered his crying brother with a teddy, after trying to comfort him.
Elsewhere, Selena’s attempts to prove herself in her new position alongside Harry are causing more harm than good, and both Tess and Harry soon decide they have had enough. Matters aren’t helped when Harry finds Selena kissing Nathan.
A teenager, Ben, goes on a date with another boy, Jude. At the club, Ben is agitated when asked for ID and as bouncers try to approach him, he flees and falls onto a glass table. He suffers tendon damage to his arm.
Meanwhile, Alice and Kelsey continue the alphabet game, while Cyd reveals an insightful talent for reading people.
Charlie cancels a drink with Maggie when he learns from Kelsey about her romance with Somnang.
