Original cast member Robert Pugh is set to make a guest appearance in a number of episodes of Casualty.
Robert played paramedic Andy Ponting in the first two series of the show back in 1986. His character left following the death of his paramedic partner Sandra Mute.
He is now set to return, this time as Jan’s ex husband Gethin who has hit on rough times after becoming an alcoholic and homeless.
Since Robert’s first departure from the show, he continued to have an extensive TV career including roles in Midsomer Murders, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Death in Paradise and Doctor Foster to name a few.
It’s not the first time cast members have guest returned to the show after having a regular role. Lisa Bowerman, who played paramedic Sandra made an appearance in Series 22, Clive King who played nurse Clive King returned in Series 18 to play Comfort’s father Neville. Adie Allen, Dona Croll, Maggie Mcarthy and Grant Masters also made guest returns as different characters.
