It has been confirmed that Guy Henry is to leave HOLBY CITY.
Guy Henry has played highly intellectual and enigmatic, Swedish-born Henrik Hanssen, Holby City’s Director of Surgery, since 2010 and has already filmed his final scenes for the show.
Upon arrival Hanssen quickly asserted his authority by announcing job cuts and clashing with other senior medical staff. However, amid a storm of controversy, Hanssen returned to Sweden and viewers were treated to a rare glimpse of his softer side as we watched him reconcile with his dying father, who he had previously blamed for his mother’s suicide, as well as meeting with old flame Maja, the mother of his son.
On leaving the role of Henrik Hanssen, Guy Henry, said: “I’ve had a wonderful time playing Henrik Hanssen – he’s such a weird man, but fun to play! The Holby City cast and crew have been delightful to work with and I’ve had three of the happiest working years of my life on the show. I’ll miss them all and I’ll certainly miss Mr Hanssen.”
His next role will be as Captain Hook in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s ‘Wendy and Peter Pan’ from December 10.
Show boss Simon Harper said: ‘His brooding, enigmatic performance delivered one of the truly great Holby characters.’
