CASUALTY has beaten Eastenders and Hollyoaks to win the award for Best Soap and Continuing Drama at this year’s Royal Television Society Awards.
Kirsty Mitchell, Di Botcher and Charles Venn were in attendance to collect the award.
CASUALTY had submitted the improvised paramedic episode to the judges who said it gave ‘A new perspective from a long-established show’.
Cast said afterwards, ‘It was created as a love letter to the NHS, and it is still that early 40 years later, and the power of those stories that we keep telling are based and inspired by the real life of doctors and nurses’.
