Website ‘This is Wales’ has revealed a storyline that will launch the new series of CASUALTY, due to be screened in September.
For five days, a country park in Pembrey was transformed into a festival field where the CASUALTY script sees disaster strike when the stage catches fire and youngsters are injured in a tunnel collapse.
Over 200 local students descended on the park as extras for the episode.
Carmarthenshire countryside facilities manager Neil Perry said the choice of location was a boost to the area.
‘There was little effect on the park, and the bonus was a £14,000 location fee which is essential income for the park,’ he said.
‘Casualty researchers had been scouring South Wales for a suitable park location with tunnels for the set and they were impressed with what was on offer on a site visit to Pembrey,” adding ‘It was like a mini Beach Break Live, with hundreds involved in stage building, pyrotechnic crews, field canteens and filming that went on into the night.’
