Casualty fans are gearing up for one of the show’s landmark episodes to be screened tonight – as we say farewell to iconic Duffy.
Cathy Shipton has played Duffy since the very first episode back in September 1986 and although she took a number of breaks during the 33 years – her character has always held huge fondness with viewers.
Duffy has had a number of storylines over the years, one of her first was a harrowing rape attack in the first series. Cathy also lead a memorable special ‘one shot’ episode back in 2017.
But it has been her relationship with Charlie Fairhead – ‘Chuffy’ – that has been built up over the years and created the ultimate love story. But following her diagnosis of early onset dementia, we’ve seen a tragic twist to their story and her final episode is set to be filled with emotion.
It truly is the end of an era.
