Former CASUALTY actress Sunetra Sarker is to star in a new Channel 5 crime thriller ‘Desperate Measures’ which airs weekly from Tuesday 21st February 9pm.
Sunetra will play Varisha, who gets embroiled in a bank robbery with her colleague, Rowan (played by Amanda Abbington).
Of the role Sunetra, who played popular doctor Zoe Hanna in the medical drama said, ‘I’ve played a lot of things in my lifetime: doctors, dinner ladies, dentists, vets, mums… lots of things, but I haven’t played a bank robber.
I loved the fact that it’s about two women who were very innocently just getting on with their lives. And then this thunderbolt turns up, and they have to completely become, I mean, criminals. That was a really big, big appeal, playing a bank robber!’
Since leaving CASUALTY, Sunetra has been busy with a number of roles including Ackley Bridge and a recent RSC debut in ‘A Christmas Carol’.
